What a great Term we’ve had at Bankstown Montessori Preschool.
At the beginning of the term our children had a chance to meet with last year’s graduate kids who moved on to ‘big school’. The older kids had a chance to stand up in front of all the children who would be moving on to “big school” next year and tell them all the exciting things they have been doing at their new schools. The afternoon ended with a light tea and catching up with their old peer’s.
On the 16th of May, the children watched a play delivered by Catrina Hylton from YoungAustralia Workshop. The children enjoyed singing and dancing together.
Below is a brief description of the play –
Catrina and the Buzzy Bee’s Flower Adventure
“Catrina the beekeeper is helping her friend Buzzy Bee plan her next adventure. Together they will visit the wonderful flowers of the world, from the Japanese cherry blossom to the English Rose to the beautiful Australian Wattle. Through songs and stories Catrina and Buzzy Bee will learn about the flowers, their scents, healing properties and symbolic meanings. So let’s smell the roses, smile with the sunflowers and tiptoe through the tulips!”
On the 23rd of May, at 11am our school joined in on National Simultaneous Storytime to read Hickory Dickory Dash.
The teachers also organised a soccer program for the kids with Red Devils Academy for term 2. This is to encourage physical and emotional health while learning to work as a team, enjoy sports, enjoy the fresh air and most importantly have fun with their peers. On the last day of the soccer program, the parents were invited to come and observe the children play. Thank you Red Devils Academy!
We ended the term with a bake sale at Bunnings to raise funds for the school. We were overwhelmed with cakes and treats, there wasn’t enough room on the table for them all! We thank all the parents and teachers who came together to help out on this wonderful day. Giving their time to bake or being at the stall or even buying the baked goods for themselves to support our non-for-profit preschool.
Thank you again! We hope you have a great holiday and we look forward to seeing you all in the new term.
